The verandah honesty stall is open! Bit late in taking photos this morning, but we’ll have flowers out every day this long weekend until sold out. I’ll bring them inside in the afternoons when it gets too hot, so just message if you’d like to pick one up later in the day.

If you’ve been following along closely you may have noticed that there were no photos like these last spring. Ranunculus are one of my favourite spring flowers, but between corms rotting, plants being continually dug up by birds, and those that did bloom getting attacked by caterpillars, I had barely any flowers. I’m determined that this spring will be better! Today I started my first succession of Italian ranunculus and anemones from seed from , and have corms coming soon from and . I’ve also ordered Italian ranunculus and lots of other spring flower plugs from in addition to all the other seeds I’ll be starting over the next few weeks to ensure that this spring I’ll have plenty of flowers to share with you all. And if all the seedlings grow well, I might just need more space!

It was a beautiful day to be up in the hills today, and I had the absolute pleasure of being able to pick flowers at . Jon from .flora.projects has created the most beautiful, and peaceful, flower farm only a few minutes drive from the main street of Hahndorf. I honestly could have spent all day there picking flowers and watching the butterflies. Those zinnias 😍😍😍

Even though I’m not a big beer drinker I’ve been a fan of these guys since their South Road days and what they’ve achieved since then is absolutely incredible, so I’m very excited to now be part of their market! I’m challenging myself to show more behind the scenes of our urban flower farm, rather than just pictures of pretty flowers all the time. This is our swing patch, so named because when we bought our house it was a large section of bark chips with a swing set in the middle. No shade so horrendously hot in the middle of summer and the swings barely got used. We moved the swings under the pergola and converted it into flower beds. Anyway, it’s three rows each 1 metre wide and approximately 4 metres long. Currently a mix of spring flowers in various stages of growth, summer flowers that are in the process of being cut down, and self seeded plants that are a bit out of control!
