ADELAIDE FRINGE EMERGING ARTIST AWARD GOES TO ‘WHITE RHINO’!!! We are so excited to receive this award and want to say a huge thank you to everyone who made this season possible. This is our first ever fringe and the support we’ve had has been amazing, we managed to pull off an award winning sell out season! This wouldn’t be possible without our collaborators who we are so grateful or have worked with, Matthew Timmis, Jacinta Jeffires, Gem Ivens and Tyson Olson , you made this show what it was! Big thank-you also to our wonderful venue Black Box Theatres for making our vision come to life and constantly working hard to support artists. Thank you to Dance Hub SA, Carclew, Independent Arts Foundation - SA Inc, Helpmann Academy and Precizion Dance for all your generous support.
Here’s to making art and supporting local artists! ❤️❤️❤️
A message from the Chairperson of the Independent Arts Foundation - SA Inc about his night at Holden Street Theatres:
I saw ‘Dirt’ at Holden Street Theatre for the start of The Fringe. This has a superb script, is tightly directed and brilliantly acted!
I highly recommend it. I’m going again at the end of the long season.
We parked on the road at the entrance, preceded the $25, 1hr performance with a glass of house reisling ($7.50), had a huge kransky ($10) after the show, found the cast and director of ‘Dirt’ ... and all that by 8.00pm.
There are many Volunteers. They are helping every day and evening of The Fringe.
As Chair of the IAF I was very impressed with the whole set up for The Fringe - it suits every one in so many ways.
Highlights included:
🚙Plenty of level on-site parking and adjacent road parking.
✅ Checkerboard seating - very Covid appropriate
🍷The wine list is extensive and very reasonably priced.
Check it out for yourself this Adelaide Fringe season!

Now here's a clever way to spend a night in isolation: chatting about Long Flight Home with good friends and wine on Zoom. Huge thanks to Mary Odlum from the Independent Arts Foundation - SA Inc for sending it through. My gorgeous husband Max has even prepared some book club questions if you're keen:
1. Lainie Anderson wanted to write a ‘boys own adventure for girls’. Do you think she succeeded?
2. Given barely 20 per cent of the book is taken up by female characters, can this story realistically be called ‘a romance’?
3. Share a favourite quote from the book. Why did it stand out to you?
4. Did this book make you reflect on Australia or what it means to be Australian?
5. Were you moved by any parts of this book? Which parts and why?
6. If you got the chance to ask the author one question, what would it be?
7. Which character in the book would you most like to meet?
8. Many aspects of Sir Ross Smith’s life remain a mystery given that he died relatively young. What were your impressions of him?
9. The four airmen were world famous after their achievement, yet today they remain largely unknown. Why do you think they came to be forgotten?
10. If you were making a movie of this book, who would you cast?
Another great event for Adelaide to get behind with Georgie Brooks - author and Independent Arts Foundation - SA Inc
The IAF is a non-profit membership organisation managed entirely by volunteers. Its role is to support the development of the arts in South Australia by contributing grants to individuals who wish to develop their work, locally, interstate and overseas, particularly young, emerging artists, writers, actors, performers and musicians, or to projects that benefit young and emerging artists.

I attended the Adelaide Critics Award at Holden Street Theatre last Thursday night to present the Innovation Award on behalf of the IAF. It was an enjoyable and illuminating evening.
The contribution of IAF to the awards was warmly applauded and Peter Burdon gave IAF a very good wrap. Others among the critics such as Samela Harris added their support for IAF. I was asked to talk about IAF and I took the opportunity to highlight the focus of IAF on supporting young or emerging artists and also encouraged all present to join IAF asap. I did especially encourage the young people in the audience to join to help Chloe Dunstan lower the age profile.
Patch Theatre were absolutely thrilled with their Innovation Award. I presented to Teena Munn (Producer) and Geoff Cobham (Artistic Director) for their production “Zoom”.
📽TRAK CINEMA🎞
On Monday, I held a mini exhibition for an event run by the Independent Arts Foundation - SA Inc at Trak CineCentre.
.
I received a grant from IAF to help create work for my solo exhibition ‘EYG’ currently showing at Urban Cow Studio.
.
My artwork was set up around the cinema foyer so that IAF members could see the work the organisation helped fund.
.
This is how I realised how fantastic the Trak Cinema is! A locally owned small business, just oozing with charm and friendliness. I even tried one of their famous choc-tops, made with Golden North ice cream.
.
I still have a couple quirky pieces on display up at the candy bar, so take yourself on a date to the movies and support local! 🍿
.
📅📅 Make sure you get your applications in for the Small Grants for Young or Emerging Artists offered by our friends at the Independent Arts Foundation - SA Inc 📅📅
