The first lot of girlies have officially headed off to their new home! 🏡

They’re part of our very first order (which is still ongoing... only 73 more to go to finish order 1 of 3 😅🫣). It’s been such a busy, exciting, and very educational time and we’ve learned so much already!

The nest is feeling a little empty without them here and I will be lost not being greeted by them every afternoon, but the chaos never really ends here… as the incubator is full, broody hens are guarding their butt nuggets with fury and we’ve currently got 55 chicks coming through the ranks and growing like weeds! 🌱🐣

When snuggles are better then hatching eggs by yourself 🥰

I went to give the girls more eggs this afternoon and found these two snuggled up. This red girlie was one of Fluffy Butt’s (black bantam girl) first hatchlings.

She is such an amazing and funny mumma (she might be tiny but her attitude and protectiveness makes up for it!) and was hilarious to watch red try and curl up under Fluffy Butt’s wing at night as she got bigger. Now to see the roles reversed is super special.

I did have a good laugh though when they kept stealing the eggs from each other 🤣. Will be interesting to see how long this duo last for as Fluffy Butt gets over other chooks in her space very fast 😂
