Beautiful scenes from our neighbours down the road at Willinga Park

Two adult Glossy Black-Cockatoos and a fledgling were seen at Willinga Park, with the young bird photographed in flight, its tail spread wide. For a species listed as vulnerable in NSW, seeing a fledgling is an extraordinary moment.

Glossy Black-Cockatoos feed mainly on seeds from she-oaks and rely on large hollows in old eucalypts to breed. Those hollows can take generations to form, while land clearing and intense or frequent fires can remove feeding and nesting habitat much more quickly.
A breeding pair typically lays just one egg, so each young bird matters.

Native planting like what we have at Mimosa helps to attract and protect these beautiful creatures.

Just a short and easy walk from the car park, the Florence Head Walking Track delivers unforgettable views across Morton National Park to the majestic Didthul Pigeon House Mountain (Balgan). Along the way, keep an eye out for colourful native birdlife, breathe in the fresh mountain air and soak up the serenity of this remarkable landscape.

Within an hour of our cottages and a perfect way to spend a day in nature.
