Sunshine, some welcome rain and a bit of fert and our oats is up and about!

We had a very dry spring and summer so we're looking for a bit of good quick feed to put away for winter.

With a bit of luck the oats keeps up its current pace and we get some quick feed put away 🌾

High maternal fertility is the engine room of any beef operation.

We've just finished preg testing the herds this morning and have some great results.

Consistent conception rates and tight calving windows don't happen by accident - they're built through disciplined selection, sound structure, and cows that get the job done year in, year out. The hard decisions are often the best ones.

All our bulls come from generations of proven, high fertility females, so the maternal strength behind them is real.

Our summer calving program is underway at the moment, a few pics of some of them showing their personalities! Always a great sign to have such inquisitive and playful calves.

Good number of Cluden Newry Uppercut sons and daughters in this lot, will be great to watch them grow out.

Fertility testing for the next group of bulls this week. We want to make sure that every bull that leaves the farm is 100% ready to get the job done.

A great group of high indexing 15 to 18 month old bulls that will come to market in coming weeks. We'll put a post up when they are available.

Thanks to Jeremy and Liv from Holbrook Vet Centre for their work, a long, hot and dusty day.

Surely the rain is coming!

The last 6 weeks here have been dry. Our long term monthly rainfall average for October is 78.4mm (for closest BOM recording station). The rain turned off in mid September and for October we managed a miserable 2.2mm.

Lucky we got a stack of rain in July and August which kept things just ticking over and enabled us to get an early and decent cut of silage.

Big thanks to JnJ for their work on the silage!

Now we wait for the next rain.

Doesn't take long for AI season to roll back around!

First groups of cows and heifers through this week.

Been warm and windy of late, a bit of rain to keep the dust down would be welcome!

Vaccination time... all our bulls are vaccinated with Vibrovax, Pestigard, Piliguard and 7-in-1.

Last week we ran all the bulls through for either their annual boosters or for the younger ones the first round of their vaccination program.
