It looks like one of my hens is going broody, in autumn! I’m debating if I should break her or if I give her some blue and green eggs for some feather footed frizzle Easter eggers with a chance of beards 🤔

Rain rain go away, come again another day.
Then I’ll be able to mow around the chicken runs, because currently when I let them out it’s like the scene from Jurassic park where the velociraptors run through the tall grass 🤣 on a plus eggs are slowly coming back. Nothing too fancy in the boxes yet, but a blue layer finally started up.

What’s your dream flock?
Are you a heritage breed fan, rainbow egg lover, funky feather fancier or commercial layer keeper for the eggs?
For me I cant pick just one. I love a rainbow basket with funky/fancy feathers but also love my heritage breeds.

2025 was a full on year. Loss of chickens, loss of a very special family member and still learning to balance life with two 2 and under (plus 5 older kids)
2026 has already had its challenges but hopefully bigger and better things to come

Seasons still closed here, not enough eggs from our ladies and still rebuilding flocks. But I’ll pop in and post when I can.

Thought I better pop in and make a post. Things are very slow over here. Eggs seem to have been replaced with feathers (molting) so my season has come to an end. I did manage to get some frizzle Easter eggers before the egg drought and have kept some for myself to grow out.
