After a super busy day yesterday I'm off to NQ today to visit my niece for her 30th birthday. Back next week. Still got a couple of spaces for cakes for 28th and the following weekend (5th October) is almost booked out so text me with your cake requirements or pop into the shop on Saturdays for biscuits and freeze dried treats

Why does it cost so much for a cake? It's not just mix and bake and decorate it's....

Shop for ingredients
Put away in fridge and pantry
Line pans with paper
Mix cake and bake
Make frosting
Use countless bowls and spatulas for different colours
Piping bags
Piping tips
Tools (scrapers, knives, palette knives)
Paper towel and cloths
Wash and clean tools, tins, Piping tips, bench etc
Cake boxes
Labels for boxes
Cutting instruction cards
Oven, aircon, lights etc
Decorating time etc

Whew I'm exhausted just reading this🤣🤣

The end result for you though, is ALL WORTH IT because I LOVE ❤️ what I do🥰

To all my lovely customers, like life, and the seasons, things change. I'm making a couple of changes to how I work down at Blush Cakery.

We are all feeling the effects of cost of living and the direct impact that has on my business, is that cake orders are decreasing and walk ins to the shop are down to a trickle. Most Saturday afternoons I package up alot of unsold stock to be given to a local charity place - fills my generosity cup but costs alot in the long run.

For the foreseeable future, Blush will be operating for orders only and I won't be stocking the cake cabinet and opening the shop on Friday's. I will still be there, but baking for cake orders and wholesale customers and another exciting product ... 👀 this space....

The shop WILL be open this Saturday (14/9) 10am - 2pm for order collections and I'll have a very small cake selection - cupcakes, brownies and lamingtons and all the freeze dried goodies, but I'm away next Saturday 21/9.

It saddens me greatly, but after almost 2 years, more than 50% of people coming into the shop still exclaim that they "didn't know I was here and how long have I been here". I concede that my position is invisible (even with signage and pink arrows!!!) so, sorry to my walk in customers who pop in for a sweet snack, but I will be funnelling my baking energies in new directions.

However, you will still be able to get your sugar fix so keep an eye out for my goodies being stocked in local cafes - I will tag them in future posts 💥🎂

Exciting changes!!!

After a great Easter break and much reflection (along with poring over balance sheets!) I have decided to take the cake business in a slightly different direction.⏩️

Still delicious affordable cakes🎂 of course, but after trading for over 12 months now, there is still a large percentage of customers exclaiming "oh I didn't know you were here" and I don't see that changing unless I get some dancing girls 💃 on the footpath😁.

Given my geographical isolation, I can't sustain or afford to keep filling the cake cabinet everyday with the variety of cupcakes🧁 and slices of cake🍰 and slices only to throw away at the end of the weekend😥. I just don't have the foot traffic.

So I've decided to open for walk in trade for cakes and treats on a Friday and Saturday.

I will operate with a selection of slices and cupcakes, sandwiches each FRIDAY from 10am to 4.30pm.

Saturday will be for cake order collections and High Teas that have been booked ahead of time from 9am to 2pm.

I have loved making cakes and serving my customers for the past 12 months but as a sole (literally) trader, it's been quite overwhelming trying to be all things for all people. This will allow me to do what I love best and that is MAKING CAKES!!!

Watch this space for the imminent launch of my revamped website which will will allow easy ordering of cakes and packaged goodies!!!

I'm back!!!! No broken legs or torn ligaments! Snow was amazing and I discovered some new muscles 🤣. Shop was going to be fully operational today but yesterday in the wee hours we had both or cars stolen from our house after the thieves broke in. Lots of police, forensics, locksmiths, reporters etc,....so I'm a day behind😪. I am physically AT the shop but only doing some cleaning and a bit of baking. Back in full swing tomorrow. Still got some space for cake orders on Saturday if you have a birthday you forgot about🤣.
