🚨 Filthy Filter Friday — Episode 1 🚨

Welcome to the first post in our new weekly series: Filthy Filter Friday. Every Friday, we’ll be sharing some real-life examples of the filters we pull out during routine maintenance — and trust us, some of them are not pretty! 😬

🧪 This week’s filter came from a site in Aeroglen, and as you can see, it's done a lot of heavy lifting.

This filter started out white — what you're seeing is a heavy build-up of sediment and discoloration that’s been removed from the water over time. If you look closely, you can also see that the internal carbon element has broken down and cracked in half, meaning the filter stopped working effectively some time ago, and water has been bypassing the filtration altogether.

🔎 We estimate this filter to be around 12 to 18 months old, but filters should really be replaced every 6 months to ensure they’re doing their job and protecting your water quality.

💧 This is exactly why regular filter maintenance is so important. Over time, filters become clogged or fail, allowing impurities like:

Sediment and rust from pipes

Organic material and biofilm

Chlorine byproducts

Fine particles you don’t want in your drinking water
