I recently had the privilege of visiting Hubfoods for winning the 2025 Flavour Creation Texture Modified Food Award, and I can honestly say it was one of the most inspiring culinary experiences I’ve had.
The saying, “we first eat with our eyes,” has never been more true. Every plate presented was beautifully prepared, colourful, and appetising. If I hadn’t known these were texture modified meals, I would have thought they had come from a quality restaurant. The flavours were exceptional, proving that texture modification does not have to mean compromising on taste.
The variety of main meals were incredible, with so many dining experience as everyone else. The desserts were equally impressive, offering an outstanding range of flavours that truly provide something for every palate.
What impressed me the most was the passion of every member of the Hubfood team. Their commitment goes far beyond preparing meals - they are restoring the joy of eating. Seeing patients smile instead of struggle to eat reminds us why we do what we do.
Texture modified food is about so much more than nutrition. It is about respect, independence, inclusion, and quality of life. It allows people to share meals with family and friends, to enjoy food again, and most importantly, to dine with dignity.
Texture modified foods play a vital role in supporting people living with dysphasia, babies transitioning to solids, cancer patients, and many others who have difficulty swallowing or chewing. I believe every healthcare professional involved in patient care should experience what Hubfoods offer. Seeing, tasting, and understanding the quality of these meals changes your perception of what texture modified foods can be.
