Textured Concept Foods - TCF

Textured Concept Foods - TCF Transforming the dysphagia dining experience and making wholesome a whole lot easier in healthcare organisations and at home.

Officially launched in April 2013, Textured Concept Foods smooth puree and mince moist meal items are easy to prepare, easy to eat and easy to swallow. We’ve taken scoops of smooth pureed foods and remoulded each individual food to look like its original form; carrots look like carrots, fish like fish. The food is pre-cooked, snap frozen and presented in user friendly re-sealable packaging, with p

reparation as easy as “Plate,Thaw,Heat and Serve” . We supply the elements of a whole meal in individual frozen vegetable, meat or dessert portions, making it easy to mix and match to create a multitude of meals. Our specially designed recipes use all natural ingredients ensuring your meal tastes as good as it looks, and is good for you. Typically production of smooth puree meals has been an arduous task. Unrecognisable scoops of colour have been the norm, with few ready to eat options on the open market and none that we've found to present pureed food moulded to look like ‘real food’. Our extensive range can cater a full day’s menu from main meals and desserts to morning and afternoon teas. TCF’s range allows those on a texture modified diet to enjoy meals that look and taste like the real thing – because they are the real thing!

Every meal gets a final check before it leaves us.

At TCF, quality assurance isn’t just a box to tick, it’s a genuine care process.

Before any product is packaged, it goes through our internal quality checks: texture verification, visual inspection, weight confirmation, and labelling review.

Because the person who receives this meal is trusting us completely. And we take that seriously.

Every. Single. Time.

Not all texture modified food is the same, and getting it wrong can be seriously dangerous.

The IDDSI Framework provides 8 standardised levels for food and drink, from Level 0 (thin liquid) to Level 7 (regular food).

A resident prescribed Level 4 Pureed cannot safely eat a Level 5 Minced & Moist meal, even if it looks ‘soft enough’ to the eye. The risks are real: choking, aspiration, and pneumonia.

All TCF products are tested and certified to their specific IDDSI level.
No guesswork. No assumptions. Just safe, verified meals every time.

It’s Men’s Health Week, and we’re talking about a health issue that affects men in aged care significantly. 💚

Did you know that men are statistically more likely than women to be hospitalised with aspiration pneumonia from dysphagia? And that conditions like Parkinson’s disease (which carries up to an 80% dysphagia rate) is diagnosed more frequently in men?

Swallowing difficulties don’t discriminate. But they do require the right support.
For every man in aged care living with dysphagia, whether it’s from stroke, Parkinson’s, dementia, or simply age, TCF is committed to making sure his meals are safe, nutritious, and genuinely enjoyable.

Because men deserve dignified mealtimes too. 💚

Residents eating more. Weight loss reducing. Staff more confident.

When residents are better nourished, everything else follows, fewer hospital admissions, better sleep, better mood, more engagement.

Did you know?

Poor dentition, missing teeth, broken teeth, or ill-fitting dentures affects around 1 in 3 aged care residents and significantly increases their risk of dysphagia.

When chewing is painful or difficult, residents often avoid hard or chewy foods, even ones they love. This leads to a self-restricted diet that may look voluntary, but is driven entirely by physical discomfort.

The result? Reduced variety, reduced enjoyment, and dangerously reduced nutrition.

TCF’s moulded and soft meals allow residents to enjoy a wide variety of food safely, regardless of dental status.

Over a decade of doing things differently.

When Textured Concept Foods was founded in 2012, the idea of a texture modified meal that looked like real food, let alone tasted like it, was practically revolutionary.

Today, it’s become the standard. And we’re proud to have helped set it.

Under Dr Lisa Sossen’s leadership, we’re not resting on that legacy. We’re building on it , with new products, smarter solutions, and an unshakeable commitment to the people we serve.

Bigger dreams. Same heart.

Low and controlled wins.
Overheating breaks texture and dries food out.

More heat doesn’t mean better results.

Texture modified food needs controlled reheating to maintain structure and moisture.
Blast it, and you risk drying it out or breaking it down.

Gentle heat keeps it safe and enjoyable to eat.
