Back in April we introduced two Renard Blonde d'Aquitaine steers donated to Mount Compass Area School for the Adelaide Royal Show carcass competition.
We thank Flynn, his handler, for this progress report which is certainly demonstrating the power of the breed in carcass competitions. The steer will be 12 months 2.9.26.

From Flynn
"Just giving you an update on "Bundy". He is tracking along very well . He is very well behaved and continues to progress nicely . As of 18/5/26 he weighs 412kg and is currently averaging 2.79 kg/day. This is a very strong result, especially considering we are aiming for him to gain above 2kg/day consistently due to his large frame and being genetically very muscular due to being a Blonde d'Aquitaine which is helping him perform very well. He has a projected live weight of 713.32 which an estimated carcass weight of 328.13 kg. Overall he is doing a great job and continues to improve each week".

We wish Terry Nolan and family all the best with the pending sale.
Terry is a formidable and reputable authority in the beef industry, winning many carcass competitions with his Blonde d'Aquitaine and Blonde infused cattle.
He has been an advocate for our breed starting with his own Cooloola Blonde stud.

"Industry leaders such as Terry Nolan built successful beef businesses by focusing on efficiency and yield—qualities that have long been hallmarks of Blonde d'Aquitaine cattle. With their exceptional muscling, growth and carcass performance, Blonde cattle continue to offer commercial producers a practical pathway to producing more kilograms of saleable beef."

SUMMARY .
Australia's largest organic meat producer, Hewitt, has agreed to acquire Nolan Meats, a family-owned Queensland meat processing business founded in 1958. The sale marks the end of nearly 70 years of Nolan family ownership and follows health concerns and succession planning considerations.
Brothers Terry, Michael and Tony Nolan chose Hewitt over international buyers because they believed the company shared similar family values and would respect the Nolan legacy. The business, which employs 621 staff and processes around 150,000 cattle annually, will continue operating from Gympie, remaining one of the region's largest private employers.

The acquisition brings together two major Australian agricultural businesses. Hewitt runs more than 100,000 cattle across Queensland, New South Wales and the Northern Territory and sees the purchase as an opportunity to expand market access, product range and future growth. Terry Nolan believes access to greater capital under Hewitt's ownership will accelerate expansion opportunities that may otherwise have taken decades to achieve.

Subject to regulatory approvals, the sale is expected to be completed in the second half of 2026. Terry Nolan will join the Hewitt board during the transition period, helping ensure continuity while preserving the Nolan family's legacy in the Australian beef industry.
