It’s been a big few days in the yards at Purlewaugh 💪

We’ve had all the weaners through - processed, vaccinated, and DNA samples taken ✅ followed by a full day of freeze branding, tick blooding and sorting through this year’s sale bulls in preparation to head north.

Plenty of dust and a solid effort from all onboard to get the job done.

This season we’ve added another layer to our animal health program, introducing Bovi-shield and Rhinogard IBR vaccines to the lineup. It’ll be interesting to see how this supports performance as we head into what’s shaping up to be a long, dry winter.

At the end of the day, it’s about healthy, resilient weaners set up to thrive 🌱

Well this year is well and truly underway!

HOT - stupidly hot🥵 - days, dusty yards, not a lot of rain & a full family crew preg testing the girls yesterday. Kids being useful and good preg test results make for a good day!

It’s drying off at a rate of knots here and finally starting to get on top of water security is definitely taking the stress down a notch.

What a weekend!

A huge thank you to the Australian Shorthorn Youth Group for the opportunity to judge the Herdsman Award at this years heifer show. It was a real privilege to be part of recognising the hard work and pride these young people put into their cattle. The quality of care and presentation on display was top-tier! 👏🏼

Our three kids competed over the weekend and had an absolute blast. Between the early starts, calf capers, and a few ‘character building’ moments, there were plenty of laughs and a whole lot of learning. These events aren’t just about ribbons – they’re about building life skills, friendships, and growing confidence in the next generation of ag leaders. There’s nothing quite like watching kids develop responsibility, resilience, and teamwork while doing something they love.

A big shoutout to the Youth Committee again – the level of organisation, communication and commitment you showed was seriously impressive, especially for such a young team. You ran the show with professionalism and energy (and probably very little sleep!).

We’re already looking forward to next year!
