I was talking to an old farmer the other day and mentioned how hard it was to believe just how well our ewes are performing, considering how tough the season has been.

He laughed and said, “You’ll never see healthier sheep than in a drought - you feed them well, there are fewer parasites, and the conditions are warmer.”

I agreed with all of that - except for one thing.
I still haven’t started feeding these ewes.

Despite the lack of feed on offer, they’re continuing to stack on condition. Time and again, they prove that they’re simply bred to survive.

These sheep are robust, intelligent, and genuinely hardy. They’re built with correct structure and plenty of leg underneath them - giving them the ability to comfortably walk 20 kilometres a day between feed and water, year in and year out, without ever breaking down.

And they do it all while consistently producing lambs every eight months.
