Our European Journey
From Melbourne skies we took our flight,
With hearts set loose for days of light.
Across the world, through clouds and blue,
To London first, where our adventure grew.
The city buzzed with timeless grace,
Old stories etched on every place.
Then onward where the French winds blew,
Through cobbled lanes and vineyards too.
In France we wandered hand in hand,
Through golden fields and storied land.
The scent of bread, the evening wine,
And sunsets painted so divine.
Spain called next with fiery soul,
Where ancient streets and plazas stole
Our breath away with every turn,
And left our hearts to brightly burn.
Portugal then, with ocean wide,
Where cliffs stood proud against the tide.
The salty air, the harbour light,
And sunsets melting into night.
Then Italy, where beauty flows
Through every winding street that goes
Past weathered walls and berry stone,
Where old towns hum in timeless tone.
Naples pulsed with life and sound,
Where hidden treasures still are found.
Its narrow streets, its voices near,
A city vibrant, raw, sincere.
And Tropea, perched above the sea,
A dream of whitewashed poetry.
The turquoise waves, the ancient square,
The evening breeze that filled the air.
We watched the sun sink low and slow,
And saw the Calabrian waters glow.
We tasted flavours rich and true,
Each meal a memory made anew.
The food, the laughter, glasses raised,
The people warm, the landscapes praised.
From every shore and every street,
The world unfolded at our feet.
And through it all, side by side,
With wonder as our faithful guide,
From Melbourne’s dawn to Europe’s flame,
This journey changed us, not the same.
For maps may fold and flights may end,
But memories travel without bend.
And in our hearts will always stay
The roads we walked along the way.
