Here are some food related books I love, that aren’t cook books. Ones that feel like a warm hug edition!

The books I’ve mentioned are:
- The Unprejudiced Palette by Angelo Pellegrini
- Cornbread Nation 3: Foods of the Mountains South, edited by Ronni Lundy
- The Seasons on Henry’s Farm. A Year of Food and Life on a Sustainable Farm by Terra Brockman.

Let me know what food books you’ve been loving lately?! I can’t get enough of your recommendations! X

Welcome to the Sammy & Bea Father’s Day Gift Guide! We love all the amazing local producers here so as always they are the stars of the show! Hopefully you can find some inspiration for a little gift or nice experience to share with a dad in your life x

For the Outdoor Adventurer:
1. Catch a Crayfish Count the Stars book by Steve Rinella. An amazing book full practical projects, wilderness skills and adventures you can do with your kids to help inspire a love and passion for nature. We absolutely love it here at Sammy and Bea HQ and regularly dip into it for adventure ideas. Good for young and old tbh.
2. The Slater Field Guide to Australian Birds by Peter, Pat and Raoul Slater. A pocket sized essential for anyone who gets out and about, very easy to use and find a bird you might see.
3. W**d Forager’s Handbook by Adam Grubb and Annie Raser-Rowland
4. Opinel ANZ pocket knife. Always useful and high quality/affordable
5. A Mountain Designs Lightweight Double Hammock. Folds up into a tiny little bag and is very comfy when set up!
6. A few packets of Sammy and Bea coconut Dahl. Mild, delicious, filling and perfect to take camping - they are just add water.
7. An 🐑Australian Knitwear🧶 Merino knitted beanie
8. An Olight Australia Baton 4 - 1300 lumens compact rechargeable pocket torch. SO BRIGHT, SO TINY.

For the Cheese Lover:
1. Mill Grove Dairy black pepper Gouda
2. Yarra Valley Dairy black savourine ashed white goats cheese
3. The Cheese Lab chèvre
4. Yarra Valley Dairy iconic Persian Fetta
5. Curdsy | Urban Cheesemaker | Melbourne halloumi

Day trips! Take the dad in your life on an awesome adventure!

North: check out a gig at The Comics Lounge Comedy Club comedy club in North Melbourne

East: Go for a scenic road trip to the Yarra Valley and check out Yarra Valley Dairy . So much beautiful, locally made food to enjoy and exceptional views.

South: Go to South Melbourne Market , it’s been running since 1867 so they know a thing or two about amazing produce. Choose some amazing ingredients and make something delicious all together!

West: head to Werribee Gorge State Park (near Bacchus Marsh). Perfect picnic location, bush walking and if you’re keen, rock climbing!

For the Cook:
1. Vintage Tool Shop strop

This weekend we are gonna be at the gorgeous The Lost Woods - Makers Market on Saturday and Regional Farmers Markets Williamstown on Sunday. We have all the right ingredients to make sure your tummy is feeling warm and your food is perfectly spiced 🙂‍↕️🌶️ 🍯

A simple omelette, but elevated.

We used:
Potatoes (KERRI & CATHERINE | FARM FRESH SEASONAL POTATO SUPPLIERS are our fav) boiled and cubed
Ghee by Himalayan Bliss
Fetta chunks from Yarra Valley Dairy
Two eggs beaten
and of course, two teaspoons of our Mexican Chipotle Sauce.

Just fry the cooked potato pieces in ghee (crispy, rich and flavourful already!!) add the Chipotle Sauce, Fetta and finally the eggs. Cook for two minutes on one side, flip and cook for another minute on the other side.
Serve with some fresh greens.
