Biggest market order of the year!

We have a regular customer that comes to the Torquay Market most weeks and buys up big every time!

They absolutely love our products and I even said to her yesterday how it’s still so weird that people love something that we make so much.

We’re both very anxious perfectionists and we’re constantly full of self-doubt.

We remind ourselves that our products are handmade, they’re not made perfectly by machines so they’re going to be slightly different each time and they shouldn’t look perfect.

As a vegan business selling a niche product we also have extra obstacles to overcome and there are always those who have been rude to us in person and online about what they think.

As highly sensitive neurodiverse humans we’ve really had to develop our resilience and make the decision to just ignore or delete negative comments and not let them seep into our brain.

We remember baking during the first 6 months constantly wondering if any of it would sell and if anyone even wants this! We soon learnt that people saying they want it and actually buying it are two very different things!

We’ve had plenty of markets with low sales where we’ve honestly wondered if we should give up, but we pushed through and we’ve had a handful of customers that have kept us going.

These customers have been with us long term, they order very regularly, they engage with us often on social media and they show up for us when we have needed it the most.

‘I got one (chocolate fudge) last week and it was amazing! I haven’t tasted anything like it. That fudge is wow! Wow!’

‘I’ve been coming here like every week now!’ Partner - ‘She really likes the cupcakes!’

‘They’re all vegan?! How exciting!’

‘Look there’s Pokemon ones (shortbread) - it’s got Bulbasaur (Pokemon) on it!’

‘Sometimes we get this and sometimes we get donuts. They’re very delicious cupcakes. These are my favourite (biscoff cookies) there’s biscoff inside them!’

‘The jam tarts are my favourite!’

Summary:

It was windy so we just had the bare minimum out on the table - no extra signs, no napkins and we didn’t even put out samples, however we still had plenty of sales and it was one of our best markets!

We met the couple behind Oborodo Tofu and we tried each other’s products - Jason loved the tofu salad. Hopefully they’ll be back at the market again soon.

The lady next to us also had a child with her, it was nice to see that other parents have the same struggles! Those of us juggling a business, and parenting at the same time have it a bit more difficult!

We bought:

Thank you to everyone that came, we weren’t sure what to expect with how much wind and rain was forecast, but luckily it mostly held off and customers showed up. As always it was great to see you and we appreciate it so much 💕

Have Pokemon cards you don’t need? Our kids will take them 😂

One of our very generous customers gave us these today! (For anyone who doesn’t know, some people open the packets just looking for certain cards and then they don’t use the rest, but our kids will take any Pokemon cards!)

If this business doesn’t work out we’ll probably end up having some sort of Pokemon related business 😂

We only have a small amount of stock left after today’s market so we have decided to cancel our spot at Belmont Market tomorrow, as it’s not worth doing a 6 hour market and getting up at 5:30am to hopefully sell around $60.

We apologise to anyone that was planning on coming and purchasing from us.

We had an awesome market today and we were close to selling out! 🎉🙏🥰

We only have around $60 of stock left so we have decided to cancel our spot at Belmont Market tomorrow, as it’s not worth doing a 6 hour market and getting up at 5:30am to hopefully make $60.
