The smell of freshly popped corn is taking over Fong Lees Lane today! 🍿✨

The kids are officially running the show at the Popping Kids Popcorn stall for the Fong Lees Lane food and arts festival.

We’re firing up the gear from 4:00 PM this afternoon.

Lach, Lucy, and Rupert are ready behind the counter (under strict, highly caffeinated parental supervision, of course).

Cash is preferred so the kids get a solid workout on the calculator, but we’ve got the EFTPOS machine rolling too if you’re cashless.

Got a few requests lately for our unpopped kernels, so we’ll also have 1kg bags of “pop at home” Geurie popcorn available, grown right by Booth Ag.

Joe and Isla are missing out on the fun today, but catch them when the Popping Kids hit the next Dubbo event closer to Christmas.

Home after 4 days in Adelaide for LambEx and back with Daddy Booth & young Lucy.

It is great to learn from the best in the business, especially to see Lachlan learn from those in high school, uni & TAFE via the Junior Jumbuck program.

But nothing beats being home.

Here we are burning a pile of sticks due to moving fences earlier in the year.

Teaching (and explaining why it’s important) to share a bit about yourself as a young person starting out.

In addition to “who am I?” ( ya’ name) “where are you from?” (ya’ hometown/ district) & “what do I want to do/ what do I do” (ya’ current or hoped for day-to-day job) BUT add the Why.

Why is something important to you? Let a tiny bit of why it is you want to create a career, try something out … be brave to share your why.

Seriously, this was a brilliant brilliant session. Priceless. Seriously impressive.

From the Dubbo tarmac to the Adelaide Convention Centre 〰️ what an incredible journey for young Lach! ✈️🐑

We were so proud to see him jump into the Westminster School “LambEx Junior Jumbuck” program.

It is a brilliant initiative that delivers a perfect dose of realism for the next generation.

The program does an amazing job of showing these young leaders that emotional intelligence, etiquette, eye contact, and conversation skills are just as vital to a successful future as being able to shear a sheep, class a fleece, or raise a fat lamb.

What made it truly special was the presence of young, volunteer graziers and farmers who were there to chaperone, offer moral support, and patiently answer the “million and one” questions that these bright young minds have.

There is simply no substitute for this kind of hands-on education. It’s a fantastic way to learn, connect, and grow away from the classroom, the family farm, or the usual backyard.

Sensational stuff: the future of the industry is in great hands! 🚜✨

An exciting day for young Lach today as he joins his mum at work - this week at LambEx. Whilst mum talks all things capital gains tax, and succession law things, the LambEx team & The Westminster School are offering a “Junior Jumbuck” program … a great way to inspire, motivate and enhance the minds of the next generation coming through the sheep-meat, wool & stud sheep sectors.

An early start from down-town Geurie this AM!

LambEx is the world’s biggest sheep conference, held every two years. This year it is in Adelaide.

Stories of real life family farmers is the core theme at this year’s conference.

If you have young ones coming through, who like Lach, have a deep love for animals, keep an eye out for the 2028 conference and bring the family. Succession comes in lots of different forms, and spending time together, learning together … and watching how other families do things can all enrich the process.
