🖤 A tribute to our darling dog, Honey-bun.

Last week we said goodbye to our beautiful family dog, Honey. She was 15 years old and a rescue dog, cattle x Kelpie. We had her for 8 years and I like to think she lived pretty bloody well, especially the last few years here in Queensland.

Honey was absolutely a people-pup, she wanted to be around us all the time which meant she was often in the grow house with me, wandering the garden or visiting me in my office pod. Because of her constant presence she was a great photo bomber ☺️ you’ve probably seen her in some of our reels and stories over the years.

We loved her so much and miss her terribly. Thanks Honey-girl for bringing us so much joy 💚

It’s Book Week!

Can you guess what we grew? 🌱

On Monday he ate through one apple. But he was still hungry...

(It seems this depicts him towards the end of his week!)

🔬🌱 In honour of Science Week 2026 I thought I’d share something interesting about microgreens (and most plants!)

You can see in the image that one of these pots of microgreens tipped over halfway through growing, causing the sunflower shoots to grow in a different direction.

What causes this? 🤔

Well, plants and their different parts will move toward or away from certain stimuli, here we’re thinking of light and gravity. The shoots of a plant naturally move toward the best light source as the leaves need light to photosynthesize to make their own food. However, plants also respond to gravity: their roots go downwards into soil (positive gravitropism as they are going with gravity) and shoots generally move away from the gravitational pull (negative gravitropism).

10 points if you use the word gravitropism to a friend whilst watching your microgreens grow this week 🙌

🌱 Grow Wise Update!

This shot was taken this past weekend at the fabulous Bundaberg Garden Festival at our market stall. Over two days we spoke with hundreds of people keen to grow a little food or just improve their health with nutritious, local food. Thanks for stopping by everyone!

We love markets for exactly this reason, connecting with you all in person is so great, and so many of you gave us vital feedback and ideas for our new exciting project: Tiny Greens Big Impact.

This project is about creating educational packs to send further than our local region, making growing and eating REAL food super easy for more Aussie families. With the time I’m devoting to this project and my AMP Foundation Tomorrow Makers SPARK program we have needed to step back from regular market attendance.

We are planning for a few special appearances at large events like last weekend, but remember in the meantime you can order living microgreens and grow kits for the Bundaberg region online!

Our next event will be Agrotrend in September, we’ll be running some kids workshops so stay tuned!

Crime scene in the Grow Wise Pod?

Nah just jokes. This is what happens when you have left sown cups of microgreens stacked unevenly or for a little too long: they topple off the shelf. It’s my rare reminder to keep a closer eye on where things are at and take things out of weighted blackout sooner.

As for the possible perpetrator, I’m happy to say Giselle 2.0 🕷️is more of a help than a hindrance in my work space! Despite providing an occasional healthy jump scare she is pretty low maintenance and eats the tiny flies and bugs that get inside the pod.

So totally happy having her around - it’s just helpful to know where she is…

To all you growers out there have you had many leaning towers of microgreens pisa?
