Today we celebrate the anniversary of Queensland becoming its own state on **6 June 1859**, when Queen Victoria signed the Letters Patent officially separating Queensland from New South Wales.

Queensland Day is a time to recognise the resilience, community spirit, diversity, and achievements that make our state such a special place to live.
