Our little patch of the world is very dry. We are saying little prayers for rain and remaining optimistic while also having to make some critical decisions for our livestock, our cash flow and our business 🙏🌾

Sliding into Easter like… 🐣🌾

Big week at Webster Grain & Grazing:

• Drafting weaner heifers and picking our replacement girls for October joining — a job that always sparks a few passionate discussions 😅 Stay tuned to see if we’re all still married and in business together by the end of it.

• The girls not making the cut are off on a little holiday to Uncle Pete’s at Roma until we jag a decent drop of rain and get some oats in 🌱

• Steers will be put under the spotlight and headed for Auctions + this Thursday.

Now we’re gearing up for an Easter break we’ve been hanging for — Artie Simmo, Flinton Races, special visitors, campfires, and plenty of good family time 🔥🍻

Wouldn’t have it any other way.

Big week ahead at Webster Grain & Grazing 🚜🌾🐄

We haven’t done one of these for ages but I love a bit of planning for the week as much as I love celebrating all that we have achieved at the end!

• Sorghum getting trucked out
• Weighing, vaccinating & processing weaners
• Feeder heifers heading off to the feedlot
• Moving cows onto some fresh feed
• Boss planter getting a bit of maintenance love

It’s all happening around here and we can’t wait to get stuck into it 💪

Yesterday was eShepard day. We had the very knowledgeable Mark from Gallagher Animal Management help us get this project off the ground.

We spent the morning in the office learning the back end of the program and how to bang in a few virtual fence posts.

Then we headed to the yards to fit the collars to our 40 cows. There was certainly a special sort of buzz and the cows didn’t mind their new bling.

Then we walked them to their training paddock and watched as they worked out the boundaries of the virtual paddock.

Overnight we can happily report that there was no fence jumpers and they are still all in their training paddock. Really cool tech and we can’t wait to share more about it.
