We gave the big cows a round bale of hay today and these girls were feeling left out so we grabbed some off the bale for them, very happy girls now 😋

Well this was a pretty simple nice non eventful move. I love it when a plan comes together, every move is a plan in my head. I’m usually planning the next 2 to 3 moves if I’m completely honest.

There was a little bit of excitement yesterday as the little Highland heifers and the the big cows haven’t crossed paths in a few months so they seemed very happy to meet up again. We have been keeping them separated because we have the bull in with the big cows and don’t want to have Highland cross Hereford calves

The cows just made a move after a few weeks being in the last paddock which we chose to do to give some recovery time to the grasses. Now the days are short and the soil temp is low the grass is very slow growing, they are really happy to see some fresh grass and not hay. They won’t be in this spot for long, this is just a strategic move to get them where we want them in the next day or 2 but for now everyone is happy.

Just checking on our highland calves. Everything is looking good, they still seem to have enough grass for the next few days which is great because there next move is a pretty big move which always has its risks and hiccups.

Well after 6 days 3 cows, 2 goats and 8 sheep this bale of hay didn’t stand a chance.

Busy day on the farm today. Didn't sit still long enough to catch a minute but here's a minute of what we saw while out doing some work.

Well something a bit different from the homestead today, I thought I’d share our chickens. We have a small flock of 9 birds, 3 leghorns (white ones), 3 australorps (black ones) and 3 isa browns (brown ones). They are around 16 weeks now and hopefully we should have fresh eggs coming soon.

I seem to be catching up with the cows at the drinking trough the last couple days. The highland ladies seem to be pretty happy at the moment but I think they will be ready for a move in the next couple of days.
