See you there! We have been in operation for over 20 years and were previously based in Pitt Town (near Windsor). We have recently moved to Gulgong (near Mudgee) where we now occupy 300 acres. Our traditional free range farming model has not change

The hens are housed in small colonies inside portable nesting and roosting houses. They leave at daybreak to eat the protein-enriched grains and pasture before returning to lay their eggs and roost at night. The houses are routinely towed across the land to allow the pasture to regenerate. The hens are never confined and are protected from predators by electric fencing and 8 flock guardian dogs. The dogs are Mareemas, a breed used by Roman shepherds and first described in text around 2000 BC. Our stocking densities are below the preferred free range standard of 1500 birds per hectare. We do not beak trim our birds as we believe it is harmful and we have so much space there has never been an argument for it. We do not use hormones, antibiotics, synthetic or chemical feed additives, artificial pesticides or herbicides for the same reasons. The eggs are collected 5 times a day to ensure freshness and maintain cleanliness. They are strictly checked and handled to appropriate health standards before being graded and packaged. We used to supply Woolworths and a number of health food shops and cafes but have decided to supply only the Frenchs Forest Sunday market (https://www.facebook.com/FrenchsForestMarket) due to low production rates since the move. We have been looking to downsize to create a more self-sufficient farm and living model and to diversify with sheep and cattle. πŸŽ„ Christmas Egg Orders - Heads Up πŸ”

As we head into the Christmas break and our usual market pause, we'll be offering online pre-orders for eggs so you can stress less about having enough eggs for pavlova or gingerbread cookies 😊

πŸ“ Pickup location: Rat Park (usual Warriewood markets carpark)
πŸ“† Pickup day: TBD (either Fri 26 or Sun 28 Dec)

Orders will need to be placed online in advance (through our website) and we'll be sharing the link very soon.

This coming weekend will be our last markets of the year- finishing 21st December. We will be back at the markets on the 9th Jan (2 week break). Our hope is that by dropping eggs in the middle of this break we can reduce the waste of unused eggs on the farm and continue supplying all our wonderful customers πŸ€—

Thank you to everyone for supporting our farm over the year, we'll send an update once ordering is live!

Thanks,
Zoe

Last Tuesday we welcomed 2000 day-old chicks to the farm. They are currently sitting toasty warm in the brooder house and will stay there for 8 weeks before they are old enough for us to move them on to the pastures.

You may recognise Hayley from the markets, she has been up at the farm this week helping the chicks get settled in! (Make sure to ask her all about the trip this weekend) πŸ€—

Hope everyone is having a good week and we look forward to seeing you all this coming weekend at the markets πŸ˜€πŸ£
