What started with the hubby and two local mates getting together and deciding that chickens and selling eggs sounded like a great idea has grown into two chicken caravans and a full-time job for the wife!
While the others still enjoy it as a hobby, we’ve committed to turning it into a small family business. It’s been a huge learning curve, and we’ve come a long way.
We’re registered with the City of Swan, have our own licence number, and every egg is stamped for traceability. Our eggs are unwashed, just as nature intended, while any dirty or cracked eggs never make it into a carton—they’re enjoyed by our family or the dogs instead.
Every egg is individually weighed and sorted into the correct size carton. And yes, every carton is brand new! We often get asked why we don’t reuse egg cartons, but hygiene regulations and the risk of cross-contamination mean we can’t.
We’ve been managing with blank cartons and our own labels, but we decided it was time to back ourselves and invest in the business.
Our custom 700g cartons are already here and in use, and we’re excited to announce that our 600g and 800g cartons are on the way too… all 20,000 of them! 🤯 We’ll also have 860g and 900g stickers for our less common king-sizes.
