✨ What a night! Our Thermomix Showcase was a success! 💚

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our TM7 Showcase last night! 🥰 It was so lovely to cook, chat, share ideas and show you just how much the Thermomix can do.

I really hope you walked away having learned something new, picked up some inspiration and discovered a few more ways your Thermomix can make life a little easier in the kitchen. 💚

🥄 Could your tablespoon be changing the flavor of your food?

In New Zealand, a standard tablespoon holds 15ml, while the Australian tablespoon used in Thermomix recipes is 20ml.

So, if a Thermomix recipe asks for 1 tablespoon and you use a standard NZ tablespoon, you’re adding 5ml less.

That could mean:
🌶️ Not enough chilli or curry paste
🧄 Less garlic or ginger flavour
🍋 Dressings and sauces that lack punch
🌿 Marinades that taste a little flat
🍯 Not quite enough sweetness or seasoning

It’s even more noticeable when a recipe calls for 3–4 tablespoonsyou could be missing 15–20ml!

It can work the other way too. If you use a 20ml tablespoon for an American or British recipe expecting 15ml, you’ll add too much.

If you’re converting a recipe for your Thermomix, keep in mind where the recipe originated and which tablespoon measurement it uses:

🥄 NZ and most countries = 15ml
🥄 Australian and Thermomix recipes = 20ml

If the recipe gives the ingredient in grams, remember to tare your scales and weigh it directly into the bowl. Just remember that millilitres and grams aren’t always equal, as ingredients have different densities.

⚠️ A really important note about dried herbs and spices:

If the recipe says 1 teaspoon or 1 tablespoon, use an actual measuring spoon - do not weigh out 5g or 20g.

Teaspoons & tablespoons measure volume (ml), not weight (g). For example, 1 teaspoon means one 5ml measuring spoon not 5g on your Thermomix scales.

Dried herbs and spices are very light, so 5g would be far more than one teaspoon and 20g would be far more than one tablespoon. Adding that much could make your dish extremely strong, bitter or inedible.

Such a small difference, but it can make a big difference to the final flavour.

How lucky am I to be able to have spent the last 3 months teaching at such a beautiful school with such a beautiful class, and surrounded by supportive and caring colleagues. I have been spoiled today with not one, but two bunches of flowers, chocolates, an amazing thank you card from my class and some footy cards! They know me so well! Haha

It isn't really goodbye as I will be next door for the next 2 weeks and will of course still be there as relief in future. But I still feel very appreciated and loved 🥰
