In contrast to commercial hybrids, which offer a mere 1-3 years of egg production, heritage breeds provide 6-8 years of consistent yield. Moreover, commercial hybrids undergo a precipitous decline in egg production by their third year, plummeting to around 40%. This sharp decline accounts for the availability of commercial hybrids at discounted prices around the 18 month mark.
