My name is Shona. I live on the beautiful Far South Coast of NSW in the Bega Valley with my family, my husband Heath, and my two boys Atticus & Arlowe.
We moved her in March 2018, after many years further north.
We love the relaxed rural lifestyle, the gorgeous surrounds and the great community spirit we find in our local area of Candelo.
My love for styling has been with me for a long time. Perhaps it started sitting under metres of fabric as my Mum and Aunty Jullee sewed wonderful wedding dresses for excited brides. Then the many many dresses Mum would create with me for special occasions.
My official career in styling and interior design came about through tragedy. Heath had a major vehicle accident and was seriously injured. I was working full time in administration and when he came home, I handed in my resignation so I could care for him as he rehabilitated. My bosses at the time, knew I loved to design, and had allowed me to work alongside them designing their display homes previously, so instead of accepting my resignation, offered me a permenant position as colour consultant for their building company.
I worked alongside Dean & Kelly for many years, and then stepped into a new working relationship with the new owners of the building firm, and worked along side them, completing 10 new display homes and helping countless clients bring their dream homes into reality.
Thankfully, Heath made a full recovery and after having our two boys and wanting to spread our wings we decided a move was on the cards.
When my family and I decided to move to the valley I stepped away from my designing for the last 18 months and focused on establishing ourselves in the community and also building our own home.
With a roof over our head now, I decided to venture into another passion of mine. Fabulously colorful and delicious grazing tables.
My first official table was for my brother and sister-in laws engagements party. Might as well start big I thought. A nibbles table for at least 250 people. Much to my amazement and utter delight it was a hit. Up until that point my platters had only been enjoyed by friends and family on a Friday evening or Sunday afternoon at home. To see that table filled and people milling around, grazing was a fabulous experience and what a grazing table is all about.
First it is a sight to behold, then it is one of life’s simplest pleasures enjoying delicious food with family and friends.
I am still going to pursue my design work, so if you have a project at home and need some guidance please feel free to contact me, however I would love to contribute to peoples special occasions with my grazing tables also. Also serving as a great way to showcase the wonderful local produce this area offers.
In the wake of what has been a horrendous time for this area, and many areas across the country, and a long process of healing, being able to bring some enjoyment and relaxation to people will be a delight!
