A group of our Autumn 2025 born bulls over at Margaret River in the South West of Western Australia, enjoying a beautiful spring day after being moved onto some fresh, new pasture.

It’s rewarding to see the bulls making the most of quality spring feed. A great environment to continue developing these young sires.

A New Addition to Gumnut Downs

On sunrise this morning, during a storm that delivered 45mm (1.77 inches) of rain overnight, our newest purchase from the Ben Nevis Female Sale decided it was the perfect time to introduce her calf to its new home, calving in the pouring rain.

We are delighted to welcome this latest addition to Gumnut Downs, out of Ben Nevis Wilcoola R308, purchased at the Ben Nevis Female Sale.

We would also like to make special mention of Falls Livestock Transport and their team of drivers for getting this cow back to Western Australia in immaculate order.

A pretty special way to start her journey with us, and a reminder that these Angus cows don’t wait for perfect conditions.

One of our contemporary groups of bulls, all destined for our March 2027 Bull Sale.

These young bulls are currently 18 months old and are developing nicely as they continue their journey towards sale day.

The focus remains the same — functional, fertile and sound Angus bulls backed by strong maternal genetics.

Today we also purchased a second, 17 month old bull at the 3R sale. This one has a pedigree that reads like royalty on both sides.

Sired by LT Chiefton 1440 who is out of LT Forever Lady 7038, a cow that needs no introduction for the impact she has had within the LT program.

Further back in the pedigree sits B&B Blackbird Progress 3015, who recently had one of her progeny, Koupals B&B Inevitable 509, sell for US$800,000.

On the dam side, we find the world-renowned Coleman Donna 9309, a cow that has performed at an exceptionally high level in the United States and is now continuing to make her mark here in Australia. 9309 carries a double cross of the legendary Coleman Donna 714, further strengthening an already impressive maternal pedigree.

This is a pedigree stacked with proven cow families, influential females and generations of performance — exactly the type of genetics we are looking to bring into the Gumnut Downs program.

We are very pleased to have purchased this bull in conjunction with Jagged Edge Angus, and we look forward to seeing him join the cows later this year at Gumnut Downs Angus.

A New Addition to Gumnut Downs Angus

Today we were fortunate enough to purchase this 17 month old bull at the 3R Beef Annual Bull Sale.

Sired by Montana Judgment 1038, a sire renowned for producing high-quality cattle in the United States. He is now making his mark here in Australia.

His dam is the highly renowned Coleman Donna 9309, carrying a double cross of the outstanding Coleman Donna 714 cow family.

This bull immediately caught our eye with his very clean front end, tremendous capacity, muscle and overall sire appeal. He is extremely well-footed and combines this with a level of docility that is unparalleled.

We are excited to welcome him to Gumnut Downs Angus and look forward to seeing what he can contribute to our breeding program. He will cover cows later this year, and we are excited to see the influence he can have on our herd.

A bull with an outstanding pedigree, excellent phenotype and exceptional temperament — we look forward to watching his story unfold.
