We’ve been striving to breed another Caribbean Pearl after losing her prematurely, and that’s been our focus. We flushed her dam to Captain Morgan and have bred full sisters; but what’s most exciting is that we now have a heifer linebred to Caribbean Pearl (2x3) and Captain Morgan (3x4x4). She has been named Xquisite Pearl!

Caribbean Pearl was Supreme Exhibit at Melbourne Royal at just 13 months of age, as well as Reserve Interbreed Junior Champion Female. She went on to win the Interbreed Junior Jackpot Female at Canberra Royal.

Sydney Show is done and dusted for another year, and what a fantastic week it was.

Ausbred Waikiki Pearl competed in the largest junior heifer class, while Ausbred Vegas Pearl (alongside Xtravagrant Pearl) took on an exceptionally strong senior cow class; the same class that produced the eventual Grand Champion Female.

We’re impressed with how Vegas has developed into a mature cow, and it’s always exciting to see how last year’s heifers return and perform as cows.

Now, our focus shifts to autumn joining and preparing for the spring show season.

Our last body of beef processed by the sausage king 🤴 Jud Haines at Glossodia's Country Fresh Meats. Jud has sold the shop to pursue his dream with Fire and Rescue NSW 👨‍🚒

At this year's Canberra Royal Show we exhibited our first Red Simmental (at a Royal Show) and Vegas Pearl as a first calver.

Waikiki Pearl was the youngest Simmental heifer at the show and is a full sister to Caribbean Pearl - 🏆 Interbreed Junior Champion Jackpot Heifer, Canberra Royal 2020.

We are beyond excited to announce the arrival of Ausbred Xtravagant Pearl X001, without doubt the most exciting calf to be born here in our 18 years of breeding Black Simmentals.

She represents 5 generations of our “Pearl” female line. Her mother, grandmother and great-grandmother are all Royal Show Grand Champions!

I’m incredibly proud to have bred a complete year-letter alphabet, from "Y" in 2003 through to "X" in 2026. My stud cattle journey began in 2003 with the purchase of five Australian Lowline cows at $500 each (with an average of 10+ years), and expanded into Black Simmentals in 2009 following the purchase of a cow for $4,000 from the Corindadowns dispersal.

I have also been fortunate to travel throughout the USA, Canada, the UK, Europe and New Zealand, visiting leading cattle studs and further expanding my knowledge and understanding of cattle breeding.

Along the way, there have been some memorable achievements:

As a small stud, we only show a handful of cattle each year but what we may lack in numbers, we more than make up for in countless hours behind the scenes.

2025 has been a standout year for our team, highlighted by Jack Smyth being awarded Grand Champion Parader at the Melbourne Royal Show!

In other years our heifers have successfully been shown by Thomas Duddy - Champion Parader, Sydney Royal Show &
Skye Baxter - Champion Parader, Canberra Royal Show.

These results mean a great deal to us 👏

We are extremely proud of the small but quality herd of females we have bred. All of our females calving in 2026 are royal show champions, homozygous black and homozygous poll. The is our favourite paddock on the farm!
