Well, here it is… Addilyn’s – By Halacal Farm.
This has been a few years in the making, and I’m pretty bloody stoked to finally show it to the world.
I started this project with zero building experience, zero money to fund it, a head full of ideas, and a whole lot of people telling me it would never work… which honestly just made me want to do it more.
Truthfully, I also needed something to keep me occupied during a pretty rough period of personal storm and tempest.
To fund it, I did what any other well-adjusted person would have done…
I started a horse business and a mushroom production business. Again, with absolutely zero experience or idea of what I was doing in either. Did I mention the undiagnosed impulsive disorder? 😂
Both businesses took off pretty quickly, did really well and helped me raise the small amounts I needed to progress week by week. Due to the success I found particularly with the Horses, I naturally got bored with them and pivoted to something new...
That’s where the camping and Cows started.
So, you should probably consider booking in asap before I get bored again.
This project has tested me in a lot of ways. I’ve learnt a heap, cursed at it, thrown things at it, and considered burning it down on several occasions… but, I wouldn’t change any of it.
It gave me time with friends and family that I will genuinely cherish forever. We talked about hard stuff, and we shot guns, and drank beer, and made dick jokes, and we shouted khe-sahn loudly around a fire, and we talked s**t about people who weren’t around and laughed at Glen when he shot himself in the hand with a nail gun!
For all the hardship, these moments are just…priceless to me.
These guys also helped me with technical advice, labour, parts, and they have lent me tools that I promise to give back one day.
I wrote every one of their names somewhere in the framework for posterity’s sake.
Anyways… she’s officially live on Hipcamp and ready to book, but this post is less about advertising it, and more just me taking a moment to say I’m proud of it…having a little bit of a brag and to share some of the memories I made building it. Genuinely hope you come and stay some time.
