🌾 GLUTEN FREE DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY MEAN HEALTHY 🌾
This might surprise some people…
Just because a product has a big “GLUTEN FREE” label on the front doesn’t mean it’s a healthy choice.
Now, if you have coeliac disease or a genuine gluten sensitivity, avoiding gluten is absolutely important. ❤️
But many gluten-free products sold in supermarkets and cafes are still highly processed foods.
They often contain:
⚠️ Refined starches
⚠️ Added sugars
⚠️ Seed oils
⚠️ Artificial ingredients
⚠️ Preservatives and additives
In fact, some gluten-free cakes, slices, breads, muffins and snacks can raise blood sugar just as quickly (or even faster) than their regular counterparts.
This is why I always encourage people to look beyond the label.
Instead of asking:
❓ “Is it gluten free?”
Ask:
✅ What are the ingredients?
✅ Is it made from real food?
✅ Is it highly processed?
✅ Would my grandmother recognise these ingredients?
The healthiest gluten-free foods don’t usually come with a health claim on the packet.
Think:
🥩 Meat
🐟 Fish
🥚 Eggs
🥑 Avocado
🥦 Vegetables
🍓 Berries
🥥 Healthy fats
🥜 Nuts and seeds
And when it comes to baked goods, homemade options made from quality ingredients are often a far better choice than many commercial gluten-free products.
Remember… gluten free can be a great start, but real food is always the goal. ❤️
Much Love 💜💜
