As Domestic and Family Violence Prevention month (DFVP) draws to a close at the Centre we have partnered with the 🌹@Red Rose Foundation Australia and Mackay Regional Council to install a red bench at Caneland.
❤️The Red Bench project is an initiative that aims to drive awareness of the fact that DFV occurs in all communities, and to generate discussion of this prevalent issue all year round, not just during DFVP month.
The Red Bench is located outside Woolworths and features a QR code and some contact details to both local and national support services available for those in need. The bench at Caneland is the fifth to be installed in the region.

💜 We have partnered with Mackay Women’s Services (MWS) to create a fit-for-purpose premises that facilitates an additional 60 counselling sessions per week for victims of domestic and family violence.
The premises launched in January this year and to date has delivered over 800 sessions with three counsellors now based at the Centre on a full-time basis which has alleviated the pressure on waitlists for those who need support.
We are proud to be able to play a very small part in providing greater access and availability of this essential service within the Mackay community.
