We got a ram!

His name is Rambo. (No, I didn’t name him… yes, I agree it suits him perfectly)

He arrived with four years’ worth of fleece - literally never having been shorn before. He was incredibly uncomfortable… and had the mood to match.

We were very grateful to have Shane the Shearer work his magic and give him some much-needed relief.

This is a LOT of wool. Because it had been on him for his entire lifetime, it wasn’t in the condition we’d hoped for, but we’re determined to put it to good use.

What we do with it from here… well, that’s a plan still taking shape.

Broody hens really do become tiny dinosaurs overnight. She’s just protecting future babies… with a lot of attitude.

Being our first broody (or “Rudy”, as Miss 5 has renamed her), she has been treated like an actual queen. 👑

Little does she know she’s sitting on a very special mix of eggs — Lavender Marans and Avgen Black Copper Marans from Belinda's Poultry in NSW, plus Legbars from Natalie Conner in QLD all thanks to the wonders of Australia Post!
