A bit of a heartbreaking post from Parsons Paddock today 💔🐑

Last night we lost one of our Babydoll lambs to wild dogs and it’s a tough reminder that farm life isn’t always the picture perfect moments we often share.

Every lamb born here is loved, cared for and watched closely, so losing one is never easy.

Today has been spent doing everything we can to protect the rest of the flock, including adding extra hot tape lines, installing solar sensor lights, bringing the flock up closer to the house and putting additional measures in place to hopefully keep everyone safe.

Farming comes with incredible highs and sometimes some heartbreaking lows. Today is one of the harder days, but it’s also part of the reality of raising livestock.

Tonight we’ll be doing a few extra paddock checks and hoping for a much quieter night for our flock ❤️🐑

How Parsons Paddock started… 🐑❤️

Before there was a Babydoll flock… there was one sheep named Shaun.

Shaun was our very first sheep — a Dorper ram who came home sitting on the back seat of the car like he already owned the place 🚗🐑

His best friend wasn’t another sheep… it was our bottle fed Speckle Park calf Winnie 🐄❤️ The two of them were inseparable. Shaun also spent lots of time inside with the family and dogs - He truly thought he was part human, part cow and only slightly sheep 😅

As Shaun got bigger we thought he needed a sheep friend, so along came Ivy, another Dorper but Shaun had already made up his mind… cows were his people. He was forever escaping to be back with Winnie while poor Ivy was left wondering why her sheep friend kept choosing cattle over her 😂

So we got Ivy some more friends…

Those friends happened to be Babydolls.

And honestly… the rest is history ❤️

What started with one sheep on the back seat of our car somehow became Parsons Paddock Babydoll Sheep Stud and a flock we absolutely adore.

Through all the changes, flock additions and growth over the years… Shaun will always hold a special place here. He was our first sheep, our original farm character and the one who unknowingly started it all ❤️🐑

Well… it’s a much quieter paddock at the moment 💛🐑

Romeo has officially been separated and the girls are now just cruising, grazing and enjoying the slower pace (and honestly… so are we 😅)

Pretty sure Romeo thought we were gone long enough to completely redecorate the paddock… and honestly, I think he’s quite proud of himself.

A sea of blue means one very busy boy and a whole lot of ewes who clearly fell for his charm 💙🐏

Romeo has already been very busy over the Easter break… 🐏💘

Joining is officially underway and the marking harness is on! We use this so we can track exactly when each ewe is served, giving us a good idea of lambing dates (and helping us prepare for those sleepless lambing nights 😅)

I’ll be changing the crayon colour in 14 days to see if anyone comes back for a second date… and adjust due dates if needed.

You might notice Romeo doing his classic lip curl — he’s not being cheeky, he’s actually smelling pheromones to check if the ewes are ready to mate (farm romance at its finest)

Safe to say Romeo is taking his job very seriously 👀 not 2 seconds after I took these photos he barged me and I took that as a very clear “move along” 😂
