The Winemaker, The Farmer & The Chef: A Grenache Story.

Hosted by Juxtaposed Wines – McLaren Vale

21st September 2025 | 12pm - 4pm

Step into the story of Grenache, told through the hands and hearts of those who know it best.

Set within the working winery of Juxtaposed Wines, this long-table experience brings together three essential storytellers: Dr Wes Pearson, winemaker and co-owner of Juxtaposed; Wayne Smart, multigenerational McLaren Vale Grenache grapegrower; and Tom Boden, acclaimed local chef.

This is not just a lunch, it’s a conversation.

Chef Boden will lead you through a menu highlighting Grenache’s best friend – Duck. Over multiple duck courses crafted by Boden, guests will enjoy carefully matched Juxtaposed Grenache wines, old and new. As the afternoon unfolds, stories will be shared: of old vines and new vintages, of generational knowledge, of taking risks, and of staying true to the land.

The setting is raw and real - a shed where grapes are crushed, barrels breathe, and wine is born. It’s stripped back, yet full of heart. This is where wine happens, and where Grenache will be celebrated.

Come hungry for connection, curiosity, and character. Leave with a deeper understanding of Grenache and the people who bring it to life.

Reds in the Shed

Last Saturday we joined some of SA’s finest producers for a great evening at Adelaide Wine Market’s ‘Reds in the Shed’ event. Wes also had a blast presenting at the Future of Shiraz masterclass and blind tasting with .caicawine and Henry from (and even guessed a few correctly).
