While recently ripping rows to improve drainage and relieve soil compaction, we uncovered some impressive patches of mycorrhizal fungi throughout the vineyard. These beneficial fungal networks support vine health by improving nutrient and water uptake and are often a great sign of healthy, biologically active soils. 🍇🌱🍄

Last week we attended the Vinehealth Phylloxera Preparedness Exercise series here in McLaren Vale — a really valuable day focused on all things phylloxera. 🍇

The sessions covered not only what phylloxera is, but also:
• how we can continue to prevent it
• what happens if it does arrive
• how it could impact vineyards and the wider community
• and what long-term management could look like

It was a timely reminder of why strong biosecurity practices matter so much if we want to keep our region phylloxera-free — and just how significant the impacts could be if it ever made its way here.

Do you have a biosecurity plan in place? If you’re not sure where to start, the website is a great resource for wineries, cellar doors, growers and vineyard operators.

Cooler months are the perfect time to think about compost in your vineyard 🍇

With vintage all but over, it’s time to focus on the next steps in the vineyard 🍇✂

Barrel pruning before hand pruning offers real advantages—cutting labour time and costs, making life easier for crews, and creating a more uniform starting point.

Now’s the perfect time to get pre-pruning underway. Get in touch with GT Viticulture to see how we can help set your vineyard up for the next growing season.

The final fruit from our GT Viticulture vineyards was harvested on Friday night 🍇

With both machines running through our large Cabernet Sauvignon block, it was a team effort — all hands were on deck.

Now, with just a handful of blocks left across the region, Vintage 2026 is finally coming to an end.

Cheers to that! 🍾🥂

Happy Earth Day! 🌏

Early this morning we were lucky enough to have a tiny visitor drop into the vineyard 🦇✨

A microbat!

These little night flyers are incredible natural pest controllers, helping keep vineyard insects in check — no chemicals needed 🌱

A small reminder that great wine starts with a healthy ecosystem 🍇🌙

Do we have any bat lovers in the house that could help us identify this little guy? Sorry for fuzzy photo!
