The images from Venezuela are devastating. Two earthquakes, 39 seconds apart and a country already carrying so much, brought to its knees overnight.

I feel numb. Frustrated. Helpless in that specific way you feel when something painful happens back home and you're watching it from 14,000 kilometres away.

I can't pull anyone from rubble. I can't fix what happened.

But I have my hands, I have an oven and I have this community. And that turns out to be enough to do something.

From today until July 4, I'm baking Bakes for Venezuela boxes, where every single dollar you pay for a box goes directly to UNICEF Australia for earthquake relief.

Not a percentage. Not profits after costs. Every dollar. I'm personally covering ingredients, labour and packaging.

Each box is filled with six handcrafted Latin desserts, think alfajores, brigadeiros, mini strawberry sambas, cocadas, polvorosas, dulce de leche popcorn and others. Flavours that carry warmth and home in every bite.

Collection from Ivanhoe during Friday 4 thru Sunday 6 July. Delivery available also on those days to most Melbourne suburbs for an additional fee.

It's a small act, I know that. But small acts from enough people become something real and right now Venezuela needs as many of us doing something small as possible.
