Yesterday Kat Theophanous MP and I had a wonderful afternoon shopping and chatting to the Fairfield Traders.
This is Andrew. Heโs a local butcher who has worked at Brenta Meats Fairfield for over 20 years. I know this because I remember chatting to him while I worked across the road as a student pharmacist at Fairfield Pharmacy many years ago.
We also spoke with Frank from Frank Rocca Men's Wear who suited up the groomsmen for my brother and sisterโs weddings, Rosalie who I remember as a child from Wrapped In It, Heather from Fairfield Books where my mum used to purchase novels for my siblings and many other wonderful traders who I see on most days while doing my shopping.
Kat and I were both intrigued by the lovely stories we heard from the traders about Fairfield and the very supportive Fairfield community, particularly during times of hardship from the pandemic. We also let them know about the State Governmentโs initiative to provide 5 days of sick or carers pay to casual or contract workers.
Kat loved the feeling of community in our neighbourhood ๐ and I can not think of a better place to live, work and shop ๐
