Soils for Life and Native Foodways are proud to be partnering on the Orchard Resilience Project.
Resilience is at the core of this project. We understand resilience to be built through creating strong relationships: to people, to Country and to one another. When we build and maintain strong relationships, we open up opportunities to learn from one another and create space toΒ share what we know. By working together we can contribute to better soil health and climate resilience for future generations.
Over the next two years, weβll be working nationally and with regional partners in Lutruwita/Tasmania, Bundjalung/Northern NSW, Far North QLD (across multiple Aboriginal Nations i.e Kuku Yalanji, Mareeba, Bar-Baram and more) and Noogar Bordja/WA to support fruit and nut growers. The project will use peer learning programs, demonstration farms, field days, case studies and practical resources to highlight place-based knowledges and experiences that are helping build more resilient food systems.
Native Foodways will work closely on all elements of the project. Providing guidance, strengthening relationships, and ensuring First Nations perspectives and opportunities are embedded throughout the work.Β
We also want to hear from First Nations farmers, growers, orchardists, wild harvest businesses, food enterprises, Aboriginal land councils and community organisations who may be interested in being involved, sharing their experiences, or contributing to project activities.
