What can we say - other than THANK YOU 🙏 to the incredible Hospo Heroes of Newy that not only made themselves and their venues proud, but also our entire City showcasing nothing short of amazing food and beverages for the entire month of April 🙌 There is so much talent in our region and we sure hope you got the chance to sample some of the amazingness that was on offer!
We were also absolutely thrilled to see so many incredible entries in our inaugural 'Shoot Your Hospo’ Hero' photography competition. The winners have been announced including;
🥇First Place - Megann Evans Photography - capturing well known local chef Chris Thornton in the kitchen at The Flotilla as part of a NFM feature event ‘Flotilla brings back Restaurant Mason for one night’
🥈Equal Second Place - Edward (Ted) Lovelock - capturing Crystalbrook Kingsley Baroque including some of the hotel’s team
🥈Equal Second Place - Elfes Images - capturing chef / owner Michael from Humbug Newcastle in his domain

Do you have an eye for photography and a taste for good food? Newcastle Food Month and the Newcastle Herald are inviting amateur and professional photographers to enter the Shoot Your Hospo’ Hero competition, with some great prizes from First Creek Wines and The Flotilla 📸👩🏼🍳
We want to see photos that tell a local Newcastle food personality story; a chef laser focused at the pass, a waiter gliding across the restaurant floor, a sommelier pulling a cork or perhaps it’s a shot of kitchen staff taking a quiet moment after a busy service 🤗 All entries will be judged by a Newcastle Herald photographer and the team at Newcastle Food Month, with top pics being published - so get snapping!
The winner will receive a wine fridge and three dozen bottles of wine with compliments from First Creek Wines and a $200 voucher to The Flotilla. Second prize includes one dozen bottles of wine from First Creek Wines, with third place winning 6 bottles 🥂
How to enter:
✅ Email entries to [email protected] before 5pm on Monday the 24th April.
✅ Photos must be minimum 500KB and maximum of 2MB (maximum five photos, as JPEG attachments).

WOW what a delicious month it has been! 🤍 ✨ From the hype and splendour of our signature event Le Dîner en Blanc to bubbly brunches, long lunches and delectable dinner degustations. April was truly packed with food adventures that showcased the talent, passion and vibrancy that is the Newcastle food scene today. ✨ As we wave farewell to Newcastle Food Month for another year we want to extend a huge thank you to all the dedicated foodies who stepped out for an event, Plate Date or multiples of! We hope you enjoyed the specially curated experiences that were served up for you. ✨ We also want to say a massive thank you to Newy’s ever so talented and resilient hospo community who made NFM 2022 such an epic experience for you all!
