Nearly ready! This custard apple probably set at the end of February, or early in March. It still has about a week to go before the sugars and flavours reach their peak.

Meanwhile, we'll have a pallet of custard apples going down to All Aussie Farmers at Melbourne Market Epping over the weekend, and then out to the fruit shops of Melbourne from there.

At the start of packing day, Gerard brings trays of washed custard apples into the air-conditioned shed where they stay cool while we pack them. The air-conditioning helps to keep the fruit cool and dry in our warm and humid climate in the Northern Rivers of NSW. This lot will be off to All Aussie Farmers in Melbourne over the weekend, ready for Monday's market at Melbourne Market Epping .

The packing is done, but we haven't counted the tally yet. How many trays do you think there are? When they're tallied and palletised, they'll be heading down to All Aussie Farmers in Melbourne. The pink ones are the premiums, the green are generics, and the blues are bulks. They're all delicious and so good for your health.

We were packing this week, and these boxes had been sitting in a sunny spot for about a month. I think they faded in an interesting way. But enough about the boxes - the custard apples inside them are vibrant, tasty, creamy, fresh and very sweet. And they're off to All Aussie Farmers for Monday's market.

The start of the day, and the big fruit gets packed first. The orchard has woken up from it's winter slumber, and we're back to being busy with the custard apple harvest. The fruit is looking great, and it tastes even better!

Thursday, Packing Day.

Gerard starts off by packing the large fruit, and I start with the small ones, then we meet somewhere in the middle. After three or four quiet weeks where it seemed like the orchard had gone into hibernation, it looks like we're back harvesting again. Thankfully! The fruit is looking good, and is sizing up nicely. These trays and their tasty companions will be heading to All Aussie Farmers in Melbourne on the weekend, ready for the Monday morning market.
