We're a fan of...
..this gorgeous Spicy Orange Gin drink! πŸŠβ€οΈβ€πŸ”₯

It doesn't have to be Autumn to enjoy something with a little heat and spice!

Gin (a London Dry would work well)
Mixer? Indian Tonic or Soda.
Orange slice(s) or Blood Orange (for extra sweetness)
Cinnamon stick
Star anise
Ice

Twist it Your Way?

You could swap the cinnamon and star anise with a fresh sprig of rosemary. Delish!

What other ways could you twist this into your fave drink?

DYK, that strawberry and rosemary are an ever so scrumptious combination in your gin drink?

πŸ“πŸŒΏπŸ“πŸŒΏπŸ“πŸŒΏπŸ“πŸŒΏπŸ“

The sweetness of the strawberry works perfectly with this fragrant and bold herb πŸ˜‹

What else might work well with strawberries, you may ask?

Suppose you're feeling experimental, other than the old favourite of mint.

Why not go with some lavender, ginger, tarragon, angelica, fennel or lemongrass.

There are plenty more great pairings for strawberries; what are your favourites?

🧊 Ice Jenga! 🧊

Well, ice in general, actually.

There are so many ways to have fun and experiment with ice in your drinks.

From novelty shapes to infusing them with colours. Even dainty garnishes froze within.

Carl will be covering much to do about ice and how to use it to jazz up your gin drinks in the upcoming GINCASTS podcast episodes.

In the meantime, if you haven't found this already, you'd be wise to check out Alcademics. Their index of making clear ice is incredible as well as their general high jinks style of experimentation such as the Ice Jenga featured in the photo.

You may not be quite at an ice Jenga making level, which is totally okay, but we'd love to know, what ice do you normally go for in your gin?

Crushed? Big blocks? None all together? .

Not a fan of ? Do you often find them too sweet? Even if you only pour a little into your gin drink?

There are a lot of great tonic brands we could recommend that have created low sugar options. And, right now, Carl and I are experimenting with .

From what we've heard, they are great if you want to add a touch of tonic to your gin, especially the more expensive sort, without diluting those wonderful botanicals and flavour.

To make is pretty straightforward:

Tonic Syrup + Soda Water = Tonic Water (done your way) πŸ‘πŸ‘

You can buy soda water or choose to make your own in a SodaStream.

The verdict so far?

We're only at the beginning of this journey, but tonic syrups seem to be an intriguing road to explore.

With such exciting flavours out there, like Bittermilk Charred Grapefruit or Barrel-Aged Kina, it will push your gin drink experimentation even further. Never a bad thing!

The challenge thus far?

Finding the perfect ratio of syrup to soda and keeping your soda effervescent. No one likes a flat G&T πŸ™

πŸ‘‰ GINCASTS Top Tip: Mix the gin and syrup thoroughly before adding the soda water – it keeps the soda fizzy.

If you are using a SodaStream, avoid adding the syrup directly into the SodaStream bottle before your add the gas. From experience, it creates quite the frothing explosion! πŸ™ˆ

We're keen to hear your thoughts.

What syrups have you had? What worked for you?
