As many of you now know, on Friday we were informed that our five-week trial at Geo Thompson Park has been cut short following a noise complaint.
After notifying our stallholders, the news quickly spread through local community groups — and we’ve been overwhelmed by the support for our market and the wonderful community that surrounds it.
A community petition has now been started in support of keeping Palmyra Farmers Market at Geo Thompson Park, following our hugely successful first Sunday at the new location last week.

We are committed to working constructively with our community and the City of Melville to address any concerns and make the market work successfully for everyone, at Geo Thompson Park.
We believe the five-week trial needs to continue so that we can properly assess the market's impact and gather meaningful, evidence-based information to inform a decision about its future. One Sunday simply isn't enough time to understand the benefits, impacts and opportunities of the market in this location.
Last Sunday showed us just how much potential Geo Thompson Park has. The response from the local community was overwhelmingly positive — customers stayed longer, families relaxed under the trees, and our four-legged friends were able to join us again. 🐶🌳
After a challenging few years for the market, it was wonderful to see such a positive atmosphere and a renewed sense of community.
And importantly, our stallholders are small, often family-run businesses. They turn up week after week, rain hail or shine, making and growing their products, serving our community and working hard to make a living. When you shop at the market, you’re directly supporting local families and helping these small businesses thrive. 💚
