Last night we were honoured to host Megan and Chris from cwaofwa for our CWA theme night!

Our crew baked and cooked up some delicious food from a variety of the CWA books.

Our guest speakers shared a little about the Country Women’s Association history and how the chapters work.

The country women’s association is an iconic group in Australia know for their great recipes that are simple and delicious. Did you know they run in the metro area too? We’re delighted to have along a special guest this month for our very first guest speaker at cake club!

The September Cake Lovers Club meet is on Thursday 3 September in Inglewood 6-8pm

The theme this month is CWA - celebrating the best of the Country Women’s association! This month is extra special as it is a sweet or savoury option!

The concept for Cake Club is simple. Bring any dessert that matches the theme. Eye off all the desserts and taste as many as you like! Make sure to bring a container for the leftovers 😉

It’s been nearly a year since I first thought: oh s**t, we need a bigger room.

When I started cake club, I had no real goal other than an excuse to make cakes I wouldn’t normally make.

It’s turned into so much more!

It’s without a doubt my fave night of the month.

I love the cakes, I love the challenge, the excitement, and I LOVE coming up with fun little things to do.

But I mostly love the people that I love seeing. The relationship building. The friendships I see quietly growing.

If you’ve been hovering and thinking that you’ll get to a cake club soon, sign up. We welcome new people to come and share some delicious food and relaxed vibes with us. In our gorgeous space in Inglewood that has plenty of space to accommodate everyone!

Cake Lovers Club is the first Thursday night of the month 6-8pm.

Mira created this gorgeous caramelised cream tart. Sugar.
Charlotte made crumpets! Yeast.
Reece baked choc chip cookies. Baking powder.
Lauren brought along fruit loop panacotta. Milk.
Georgia made crème brûlée tarts. Eggs.
Treena baked berry coffee buns. Berries.
Catie made spice cookies. Cardamom.

Here are all the CAKES from the August cake club, where we revealed our random ingredient in a little guessing game with three guesses allowed before the reveal. Some very obvious, some were not!

We always try to add a little fun to the evening with a low key activity/game that’s (usually) introvert-friendly!

Below you’ll find the bake and their secret ingredient we had to guess

Alessandra - chocolate orange custard cake. Orange.
Ainslee - Date cake (mum’s recipe). Brown sugar.
Hannah - silician olive and oil cake. Oil
Linda - date and walnut loaf. Apple cider vinegar
Helene - hummingbird cake. Pineapple.
Kathy - polish fruit crumb cake with sour cherries. Icing sugar.
Jeannie - apple cake with struzel. Cinnamon.
Carli - choc raspberry brownie cake. vanilla
Carina - coffee lamington cake. Baking powder.
Daphne - honey cake. Honey.

AUGUST - RANDOM INGREDIENT

I wasn’t really sure how to really show you the different baked items for August as we all had different ingredient we chose from a hat, or were randomly assigned. I’ve started with all the cheesecakes/cheesecake inspired bakes, as our most popular item on the night by far!

Priya baked a raspberry white choc cheesecake slices. Secret ingredient (SI)- white choc
Stef made a honey coconut lime tart with passionfruit topping. SI - honey.
Gemma whipped up cheesecake brownies. SI - cream cheese.
Bree created a tiramisu cheesecake. SI - coffee.
Lisa baked cheesecake brownies. SI - cream cheese.
Julian made a pink peppercorn cheesecake. SI - pepper!
