Pretty pleased with this little swan candlestick holder πŸ₯° the grey was supposed to be pearl white haha but still happy with it against the cobalt. Big batch of testers are going in the next kiln load so I can predict the results a bit better πŸ™ƒ

Pretty happy with this "damascus kitchen knife". The black glaze was supposed to be silver haha but still happy with the result. Going to do a big test tile fire next so I can get a better idea of the glazes in my gas kiln which I suspect is running in reduction πŸ€”

It's that time of year again when my mind starts thinking of other things. I still have ranunculus to plant and dahlias to dig up lol but the beds are prepped for the ranunculus at least and my zinnia seed is mostly harvested ready for next season. Hopefully after this weekend I can get back to ceramics, it's definitely one of my winter joys and my sketchbook is choccas with ideas πŸ’™

Few weeks late posting this one as the garlic is well and truely in the ground and loving the rain.

We presprout all our garlic as whole bulbs in trays then plant the biggest cloves unless we have extra room for the smaller ones, otherwise they get composted or put elsewhere for companion planting.

These beds are finally in the top up stage, not needing a huge amount of "building". We w**d, furrow, plant and then top with compost, calcium and chicken poo.

Looking forward to this years braids again already 😊

Had so much fun with this zinnia seed photo shoot 😍 obviously a few weeks past floristry prime but still a gorgeous mix none the less. I like to pick around this stage for seed as it reduces rot and bug loss, possibly not as many yielded as letting go brown but a safer bet against a whole of crop loss from frost etc.

The boys were busy in the flower patch today 😍

Unlike my kids, I'm a s**t flower farmer and hardly harvested anything this year πŸ˜†
It was a pull between not quite enough volume (despite this lovely hoard) and not quite enough time. But I'm not upset at all and actually really enjoyed the unpressured growing season, which was good as we lost our bore half way through!
We are still soil building anyway and now have lots of opportunity for dahlia seed, which I really love doing. We have about a dozen new Fraide dahlia babies which I'm looking forward to propogating in Spring and using to expand the collection (and cutting patch 😜)

The bees doing the pollination work on my favourite dahlia York and Lancaster. Its a transposon dahlia or chimera and throws all different blooms in red and white. I'm probably going to abandon Xmas Cheer which has struggled again in the patch this year, unlike this Y&L which is thriving and has the strongest stems despite no support. My breeding goals are to grow out dahlia seedlings from this Y&L but hoping I'll get some pinks and other colour combos 🀞
