Photography was Lucy's first love — she studied it at uni and once dreamed of becoming a photojournalist herself. So when she and Hadyn walked through the World Press Photo 2026 exhibition at the Ballarat Mining Exchange last week, it meant something a little different.

Since 1955, the contest has celebrated the world's most compelling photojournalism and visual storytelling. This exhibition spotlights some of today's most pressing issues — from devastating conflicts to the climate crisis and women's empowerment.

This calibre of exhibition is usually reserved for major capital cities — Melbourne, London — so having it in Ballarat is genuinely special.

As the proud exclusive wine partner of Art Gallery of Ballarat , Black & Ginger is honoured to be part of it.

Make sure you check it out whilst it's still on! It's free to visit until 20th September.

The enigma that is Nebbiolo…

A varietal originally from Piedmont Italy, this grape buds early and ripens later, so it's out in the elements for longer. This makes for a wide range of flavours, subject to the region and its conditions but, also the interpretation of the winemaker.

Here’s your chance to compare the difference - taste a bunch of Australian Nebbiolos plus a few internationals at our upcoming Masterclass; Blacky's Bottles. Join winemaker Hadyn Black and Adam Louder of SubRosa Wine for a chill session learning about all things Nebbiolo.

$95 gets you access to this tasty experience and includes canapes by chef Dean Sibthorpe from IRIS by Block and Cleaver to compliment your tasting. It’s on this coming Saturday 25th July, 5 - 7pm at the Black & Ginger wine shed.

Seats are strictly limited to 15 places, book now -----> https://www.blackandginger.com.au/product/nebbiolo-masterclass
