The AHBIC has suggested that the bee pollination schedule for this year is 290,000 commercial hives short and Southern states are trucking road trains full of bees from Western Australia to get the Almond pollination done ….. things aren’t looking good

Asian honey bees! How to spot them……. Apis Cerana or the Asian honey bee is significantly smaller than the European Honey bee - about 10mm versus 15mm.
As you can see from the side by side, the thorax is quite different and Asian honey bees are significantly less hairy ( on the left)
Apis Cerana Javana ( the most common variety in FNQ) is a category 1 restricted matter under Biosecurity Queensland and must be reported to BQ on 132523.
