I was reading an article this morning published by the ABC commenting on a Wine Australia report saying that people are drinking less because of cost of living amongst other reasons. The question the ABC posed to the readers was “What are you giving up (if anything)?”

The answers were hilarious and confirms what I see every time I share my wines with people. And that is wine drinkers love drinking wine - with one person saying they’d give up s*x before giving up wine! 😂

Rather than analysing this data as wine is in decline, I believe that in this economic climate as a producer it’s more about being real and authentic, getting out there, talking directly to the people who drink my wines, listening to what they have to say and sharing stories and laughs.

Wine is such a beautiful drink and as a wine consumer myself, my passion is to drink good wines made by small producers who pour their heart and soul into turning grapes into wine with just their hands. Nothing else. And then enjoy those moments that the wine helps to create with beautiful people. That’s it. It’s all quite simple really. ❤️

People ask me what Nero d’Avola taste like. Sometimes I say halfway between a Pinot and a Shiraz. Sometimes I say this wine that goes perfectly with any tomato sauce based dish. But when I really think about what Nero, I think about what it feels like and to me it’s like a giant bear hug. Happy Wine Friday everyone. 🥰🤗🍷

I was at the Wine & Vine festival the last weekend and everyone kept telling me my Octopus King Valley Prosecco was their favourite one there. Well.. super humbled and there are lots of amazing Prosecco’s out there, but I do have to say that this one is pretty darn good! Light bubbles, packed with citrus and florals and ready to party in the park on these lovely spring days!

If you haven’t had Pet Nat before, it’s short for pétillant naturel which is a sparkling wine that finishes fermenting in the bottle. It’s a bit looser and wilder than something like Champagne and way more unpredictable. 😉

Nero d’Avola is usually known as a bold red from Sicily, but I picked the fruit early to keep the acidity up and let it ferment naturally. The result is this really pretty, sparkling wine that’s got texture, flavour and this sort of savoury edge under the fruit that makes it really moreish.

This wine is under my Lunella brand featuring artwork by the amazing

Have you ever tried Sagrantino before? It’s originally from Umbria (next to Tuscany) and it is unlike anything you’ve ever tried before. So good, some say, that I had someone walk nearly two hours to my cellar door the other week to try some! 🤩🍷

We are open this Thursday and Friday at 4pm so come on down - by car, scooter or bike unless you love a good urban hike 😉

We are open this afternoon at 4pm 🤩 Super excited as we haven’t been open for a few weeks - busy with some sustainability projects including planning out our new urban mushroom farm and getting ready to install our worm bench seats outside. So looking forward to see you all again xx

Just finished an early morning tasting and my customers commented on how good Nebbiolo was as a breakfast wine. Thoughts anyone? Scrambled egg, crispy bacon washed down with a glass of Farfalla Nebbiolo. Now that’s one way to start the week!
