Had a great day at the softfeather club shows last weekend held in Ballarat.

Neve took the chance to take some pics of of our silkies. We are hoping this year is our year to revive them. These birds are old stock (approx 8 years or even older). They may not be everyone’s cup of tea however they are definitely our personal desired type.

This line is derived from Jim Wright’s yard who no longer exhibits but was a renowned Victorian silkie exhibitor in his time. We have been breeding this line of silkies for about 17 years.

Since losing all our best birds in a shed fire in 2021 we were only left with a few decent females and 2-3 males who were left down in the yard as “culls”, since then we have had not much luck breeding them due to the lack of egg production from age.

We have plans this year to hopefully get these guys back up and running.

Big day at our local Wimmera show. More awesome results for the Lloyds!

Michael came home with Reserve BOS with a Mallard Drakeling, Res SF Bantam Heavy with a Pekin Ckl, Best Std SF Light with a Brown Leghorn Plt, Res Btm HF Light with an OEG Hen & Res Light with an Indian Runner Drakeling.

Brendan got Res WF Heavy with a Rouen Duck & Res Std HF Heavy with a Modern C**k.

And Neve got Best Belgian with a d’Uccle Plt.

Another great show yesterday at Kyneton with some pretty good results for the Lloyds. A good 3 or so hour drive for us but it was well worth the trip. 👏

Michael came home with Champion Bird in Show with a white Pekin cockerel, and Champion Waterfowl with a natural Mallard young duck. 🏆

Neve won Reserve Standard Softfeather Heavy with an Orpington Pullet and Brendan won Reserve Standard Hardfeather in show.

We had a few laughs and a joyful day! A big thanks to the Armeni’s for helping us sort out a new tire for our trailer after the show. 😂😂

Last weekend, we took our show team to the Ballarat Poultry Show, resulting in a great day.

Michael was the winner of Bird of Show with a white Pekin cockerel. Michael also won Champion Bantam waterfowl with a Natural Mallard, Brendan won Champion Standard Hardfeather with a Modern Game C**kerel and Neve won Champion Standard Softfeather with an Orpington C**kerel. 🏆

What a surprising outcome! Neve also had a wonderful day taking photos for the club. 📸

We had a great weekend at the Geelong Poultry clubs May show. Congratulations to the club for a whopping 688 entries and a very well run show.
Neve was busy on the day taking photos of all of the winners, her wonderful photos of our birds can be seen below. Michael was also called upon to judge the juniors due to the exceptional entries that this show received.

Miss “one-eye” has dug one big hole! 🕳️
Not sure why this girl is still here but she’s now a bit of a novelty and is out living with the large Orpington girls.
She was hatched with one eye, has normal eyelids but one eyeball must have never formed when developing. She’s a very happy, healthy Australorp otherwise! Not sure if she will stay here free ranging or find a pet home in the future. 😂
