Hands down the least intelligent creature on the farm is the guinea fowl!

I could hear a strange tapping noise from the other end of the house and come out to find this guy attacking his reflection in the window!

At least they are good at other things like deterring snakes and eating ticks.

Meet L'Orange and Speckle!

These two young ladies (we hope) are from the school Ag program.

My son and his classmates raised them from day old chicks and the students were allowed to bring home one or two to keep.

These are the kind of chicks I approve of my son bringing home 😂

We will keep them inside overnight and start putting them out during the day in the crate so they can safely meet the rest of the flock and get used to the temperature gradually.

If you don't like the idea of food shortages or lab grown meat, it's so important that you support local food chains - the little local operators who are striving to bring you quality local food.

The bonus is that your money will be more likely to stay in the local economy, your food will be fresher, more nutritious and tastier and you'll feel good about where you spend your money.

This news article highlights some of the issues.

We've been feeling the love from our amazing customers lately.

Here's a couple of unsolicited and very welcome messages we've received from two of our mystery pack customers.

If you haven't heard about our mystery packs, we offer a beef only pack or a mixed pack that contains beef, pork, and lamb. Let us select the cuts and you get a nice surprise on delivery day.

They are great value for money and come in 3Kg, 5Kg, or 10Kg packs. Simply let us know how many people in your family and we make sure you get enough of each cut so nobody misses out.

And don't worry - we won't go putting pigs heads or beef tongue in there - we'll keep it to the more common cuts and if you ever receive anything you aren't sure how to cook, simply give us a call or drop us an email and we'll help with some ideas.

Look what we crossed off our Wildlife Bingo board tonight!

We just got home after dinner in town to find this little echidna wandering across the driveway.

Brad scared him trying to get the photo so he tucked himself in a ball.

We have never seen one on the property before. Hopefully he sticks around to eat the many ants and termites we have here.

It's been a cold, overcast, drizzly day today and Prosciutto did not want to get out of bed!

He was 100% fine (I checked) and simply didn't want to move and I can't blame him - I would have stayed in bed if I could have too!

Smokey is an incredible climber but not incredible at thinking ahead!

Good thing he's much better at keeping the rodent population down around the house and sheds.

The downside to having proper free range chickens is...they have full free range and their coop which is beautifully setup for egg laying, strangely is not the best place to do so in their eyes.

Our buggy is a common favourite!

Where's the strangest place your chicken has laid an egg?

Yesterday morning I discovered another wild boar at the pig pen. I called Brad from the paddock to bring the gun. He took a shot but the boar was on the run and a fair distance away and he missed.

The question now was would lust win over fear?

That question was answered at about 9pm last night when Brad heard noises coming from the pig paddock and went to investigate with rifle in hand and his fancy new red torch that animals can't see.

Brad managed to sneak up on him and take him out without him realising at all.

That brings the score to Brad 4 Toni 2.

I still maintain that I'm the only one with a 100% strike rate though 😂.

The fact that we have been able to kill so many really shows how crazy the numbers are. The wild pigs are destructive and breed prolifically (as all pigs do) and until the government allows hunters to enter national parks, the problem will persist.

After a rough weekend, it was nice to get out and enjoy some time with the goats.

Parsley and Sampson decided to put on a show.

This may look quite brutal but it's totally normal fir goats and nobody was hurt.

This is actually a good sign as it shows that Parsley is settled in and establishing his place in the herd. As you can see, they are quite evenly matched so there will probably be a fair bit of this until they either decide they are equals or one of them submits.
