Exciting times being had at Whitehill recently! We were lucky enough to score some great rains late February early March which has given us some great feed for our ewes to lamb onto. Lambing has only been going for 11 days and we have already dropped down 50% of our potential foetuses, in the first cycle showing great fertility with majority of our mating groups being single mates this is an exciting time that’s showing our rams worth.

Great news with the wool market heading in the correct direction!! With prices looking to be the best we’ve seen for 6-7 years. Great signs of it pushing on stronger!! Can’t beat natures best fibre!!!

🚨 Wool Market Report 🚨
Week ending 13 February 2026 (Week 33)

Another positive week for wool growers at Australian auctions, with most descriptions finishing dearer. The standout was the carding sector, which recorded strong gains.

Despite the continued strength of the Australian dollar against major trading currencies, the local market defied the usual downward pressure and spot prices pushed higher.

Movements in the carding sector are particularly significant. These shorter stapled wools, including locks, crutchings and lambs, are used in woollen spun yarns, and historically this sector has often led genuine and sustainable market recoveries.

Lamb shearing was completed here at Whitehill early this week. We are very pleased with how our lambs are presenting after the tough beginning to their lives earlier in the season. Wool types and structural shapes are very pleasing for their age, especially from two of our new sire groups being WH B245 and GV 287-22. Keep an eye out for them going forward.
Great to see some massive positive movement in wool game aswell as the meat sector holding very strong.
We do still have a handful of sale rams for purchase if you are in the need.
